PROTECT BLACK WOMEN is the first solo exhibition by emerging artist, Kamara
Townes, who goes professionally by Wavy Wednesday. In this exhibit of both painting
and installation, she uses her works, which are a highly contemporary survey of popular
culture, to send a strong message about Black women in America. Framed in the
context of her own experiences, as well as experiences her peers face, Kamara
expands on the narrative of Black women being more disrespected and relied on, while
highlighting and confronting the uncomfortable situations they face.
